Boston Bruins @ Montreal Canadiens 2:05pm ET
The Boston Bruins and the Montreal Canadiens will renew their rivalry on Sunday Afternoon prior to the Superbowl. The afternoon game for the home team has been a tradition for many years. I personally attended many of these games in the nineties when the Flyers were slated as the road team several years in a row, more often than not these were very competitive games
I always take a close look at the underdog when two natural rivals are set to do battle; the Bruins and the Canadiens have had such a rivalry for the past several decades.
These two teams are headed in opposite direction as of late with Montreal coming off an embarrassing 5-1 loss to the Florida the other day. They did however manage to bounce back against a weak LA Kings team on Saturday. Despite that win, Montreal has allowed 22 goals in their last 5 games and has lost to the likes of Florida, Tampa, and Atlanta, all non playoff teams
Boston on the other hand has been much more consistent and has been rolling right along defeating the New York Rangers 1-0 on Saturday. They have not lost a regulation time game in their past 5 match ups. Boston has also owned Montreal this year, losing only one game, and that was by shoot out. The most lopsided of which was a 6-1 shellacking on November 13th.
Our play will be on the Boston Bruins to defeat the Montreal Canadiens on the Traditional Sunday afternoon tilt. All indications are that Montreal is a team in serious trouble right now and that Boston is one of the best team in the National Hockey league this year. Need proof? Boston currently has 78 points which places them above the San Jose Sharks for most points in the National hockey league at the time this article was written.
This is a Golden opportunity to grab the best team in the league at odds of 2.10 (or thereabouts) against a natural rival, a game they will be sure to get up for. There is no need for motivation here, the Bruins will have plenty. The trend will continue here and the bruins will continue to dominate the Canadiens this year
