Beckham Wants to Stay With AC Milan

Los Angeles Galaxy star David Beckham is on loan from the Soccer Betting Galaxy to Italian club AC Milan for two months at which time he is supposed to return to Los Angeles. Beckham though has indicated that he might want to stay on with Milan. “Playing here is every footballer’s dream,” Beckham said, “But it’s not easy to decide. It’s a matter that requires time. I’m under contract with, and have lots of respect for, Galaxy. But the possibility to play at Milan is something special. I knew I’d have fun but I didn’t expect to have so much fun. Anyway, I am a very respectful person.”

AC Milan executive Adriano Galliani has said Milan would pay the Galaxy for Beckham. Whether that is possible or not remains to be seen but Los Angeles Galaxy chief executive Tim Leiweke believes that Beckham will return. In the L.A. Times Leiweke was quoted as saying, “David is under contract to the Galaxy and I had a good, straightforward conversation with him before he left and he loves it in L.A.,” Leiweke continued, “He wants a better Galaxy team, we’re going to have a better team and David has no interest in going. We have a contract, we have a handshake, his kids go to school here, end of story. There is no story. He’s going to return to the Galaxy.”

Beckham joined the Galaxy in July of 2007 on a five-year deal worth an estimated $250 million dollars. It has been noted, however, that Beckham could opt out of his contract after this year’s MLS season.

Beckham’s spokesman Simon Oliveira said last week that Beckham is going to return to the Galaxy. “There is always going to be speculation in sports pages and newspapers,” Oliveira said. “David is enjoying his time in Milan but he is contracted to return on March 9th to L.A. It still stands and absolutely no conversations have taken place regarding changing that.”

Beckham scored his first goal for Milan last week in a 4-1 win at Bologna and scored again on Wednesday in a 1-1 draw with Genoa. His recent play has earned him a look from England manager Fabio Capello who may call him up for England’s friendly against Spain on February 11th.
